A talk about being a leader in the workplace.

I heard a great discussion today about a book “Jesus in the courtroom” by John Mauck.

The book, and the conversation, highlight how we ALL can be leaders in our places of work, and communities by living out our values as exemplified by Jesus Christ.  This is a 50 minute pod-cast, but the discussion starts around time marker 23:40. Take a listen, and let me know what you think.

Learning Style, Giftedness, and Strategy

I was asked to complete an analysis of my communication style, personality strengths and identify how we learn for a class. We did this by taking a few tests and then discussed the results within the group  (wow this was back in 2015). This was the breakdown for my personality type, communication and learning style.

Learning Inventory:

My personal learning style is a combination of tactile and audio learning styles. I process information through discussion and experimentation. I primarily enforce learning through teaching and coaching others and applying lessons to real world applications. Hands-on labs are also highly effective for me as a way to absorb information. QOTD: Leadership is a choice, not a rank.

I have written and talked about the concept of true leadership and leadership in organizations.  My focus in my career is to build high functioning teams.  Today a colleague sent me this TED Talk video link that speaks to exactly what I mean when I talk about leadership and true team building.

 

In my nearly 20 years in this industry, most people when asked, said they prefer to work hard for a boss they trust (and like) over having a cush job working for a boss they can’t stand.
