March Update: Marketing, Fundraising and Fellowship

Yes, it is both sad and true. It has been over 3 months since my last post and by my count almost 6 since I posted anything of substance.

So what does that mean for my 5 whole full-time readers? – Well, in a nutshell, I suck…What it really means, other than that, is that I have been in some SERIOUS transition.

I have separated from the company for which I was building marketing efforts and product lines. There was just too much of me going in and not enough of me coming out at the end of the day. I had a hard time separating my personal goals from the company goals. This is good and fine if all of the people are on board and pushing for the same goals. Alas, this was not the case and at the end of the day, I realized that I was spinning my wheels. With that thought heavy on my heart, I resigned as a partner, took my lumps for my part of the failed efforts and have decided to move on with a new movement in my life.

PROFESSIONALLY: Currently, I have two career efforts in full force. I am, of course, still doing the IT Project Manager thing for my growing consulting company, Computer Gurus. This is a never-ending effort that proves how much I love technological toys, overcoming challenges and interfacing with the people who concoct them.

The second is HR related. After many years in the Background Screening industry, and as a Human Resource IT consultant in general, I noticed a lack of customer service in HR departments. I, along with the other founders of this new venture, saw gaps in integrity, accountability, and accuracy in Human Resource departments. This trend was generally prevalent among companies in major growth or attrition cycles. In reaction to the amount of change in the organization, the departments threw the generally informal processes to the wolves in favor of fire fighting and “getting things done”. Speaking from experience, this mentality causes more ChAoS. You WILL lose some truly great talent. Additionally, attempts to OVER manage risk and tasks, frustrates the Top Performers in those departments as well.

In response to these and many more needs, Quorum Human Resource Solutions was born. Quorum HR Solutions offers tools and  services shaped for H.R. that enable H.R. personnel to consistently perform better. These tools include employment reference management, I-9 verification, applicant screening,  and pay roll processing. Quorum is working on Legal Compliance Review, applicant & employee tracking, on-line training and electronic document management. All of these service are focused on our core mission: Restoring Sanity to Human Resource Management..

I desire to uphold the commitments I have made to honestyaccountability, and service. So I am approaching both of these professional efforts with all the integrity and intention to do great things in order to glorify God through the gifts with which  He has blessed me. I encourage any and all communications that may help me to improve these services and my work.

In my personal and private life, I desire to be a man after God’s own heart just as King David was called. I desire to help people find the love Jesus has to offer each of us and a part of that is helping us find our niche in life. For men that means learning how to be a father, husband, leader, and surprisingly, a servant. I am sharing that desire through three efforts.

The first is our family’s website: Learn Differently. Learn Differently is focused on sharing ideas and promoting discussion on meeting the educational and emotional needs of our exceptional children. We talk about ideas for our GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) and HELP (High Energy Learning Programs) kids. This includes fund-raising for events and trips, educational ideas for home and classrooms, and news that affects our schools. Through Quorum HR Solutions, we have donated two one week resort stays in Hawaii, to be put on auction in order to create a sponsorship for educational trips for students. We are doing our second auction on E-Bay for this purpose right now. ( Shameless plug intended ^_^ )

The second, is an idea that my wife has cultivated. It has become a project the whole family has become involved with and even our son has an active role in creating and shaping it. BibleCounts is a web site that encourages children to read the word of God through a reading comprehension and reward system. As they read a chapter in the Bible they opportunity to take a comprehension quiz.  Reward points for each quiz can be used in our on-line “store” and even saved for prizes down the road. For those with without a Bible the site will host Public Domain translations of the Bible and have links for other sites. Additionally links to Bible readers and other applications for the computer, iPod, and Android devices will be available. The hope for us, as it develops , is that Youth Ministry organizations, churches in general and other Christian sites, will join in and offer discounts, camp scholarships, or other prizes through the on-line redemption system. This site is in development currently so keep checking BibleCounts. It will soon show great activity.

Third and definitely not last, is my own personal walk and my interactions with other Brothers In Christ*. I am have my own accountability and study group. We communicate in person, online, and through this blog. In this group we encourage each other to grow in Christ’s Love and strengthen our commitment through fellowship, prayer, and discussion. Without judgment or discouragement, we encourage one another to be worthy of the title “Prince and Son of the Most High King“.

We are called to be servant leaders. These are the most difficult lessons we will learn, and the most rewarding. Some of us met in our Men’s Fraternity group at EFCC and have continued to stay in touch. I am very blessed to know these men.

*Side Note: I have my group in my phone as BIC,  its my own personal joke. Get it? On fire for the Lord… BIC. .. Oh come on! It’s Funny!!!

Thank you for reading and for comments…
