I am no better than any of you.

My end of year thoughts on New Year’s Eve…

I am very blessed. I have been blessed with a wife who believes in me and encourages me. I am blessed with an amazing young man whose heart fire the things of God motivate me to be better every day. I am blessed with an opportunity to serve Christ at home, in my work and in my service. Best of all, I am blessed with an unshakable faith.

The only difference between me and thee, is that I accepted the free gift of salvation from Christ Jesus AND SUBMITTED to His will.

These things were not true just four years ago. I am no better than any of you out there reading this post or any of my articles or books. I am no better than anyone in any of the groups or classes I am in or that I facilitate. I am a sinner, a failure, a fallen one, a cheat, an adulterer, a murderer, a liar, a thief, and more. (Matthew 5:1 – 7:29) The only difference between me and thee, is that I accepted the free gift of salvation from Christ Jesus AND SUBMITTED to His will. I am walking, talking, working, loving and all that encompasses living through the strength, knowledge, and assurance that is only found in obedience to our Lord. I am studying His ways, I am striving to imitate His path and not my own. I do my work as an offering worthy of the King of Kings, knowing that He will use it to glorify Himself. that means I must do my best for Him.

…life doesn’t need to be complicated. It’s just hard…

I am not a holy person. I am not perfect. I make tons of mistakes. I still get angry. I still have fear and worry, though much less than before I submitted myself. I am just working with the knowledge that ONLY Christ Jesus can give us complete forgiveness for our mistakes and sins. I am putting forth the effort to make my life clean of all the ugliness we create when we do not put Our God first in all things because Christ Jesus offered Himself as a sacrifice, so I may come before God without blemish. I am living the rest of my life as an offering to the One who takes away my fear of failure, my fear of condemnation and the one who made me a true child of God and co-heir to the throne.

I am not better, I have just accepted the gift and will try to remind everyone I can, that life doesn’t need to be complicated. It’s just hard. It’s hard for us to stop running, stop trying to do it on our own. The gift of salvation is yours too. You can be forgiven of ALL those labels and judgements. You can start the new year a new creation in Christ Jesus.

Just Ask…   (Matthew 7:7)

May Jesus have His way with your day
