Wisdom and Inspiration in All Things

As you read or talk to me you will often hear me praise and talk of the Universe and all events with-in it with reverence and awe. My logic for this is that since we have no picture or sight of God, I see God’s manner, will, and intention in the events of the world around us and in the act and substance of creation itself. (See  In my opinion this is the essence of most ‘nature’ based religions as well. (ie. Shamanism et all.)

“However, I praise the creation, for I see the creator in His creation; The creator is in all things, and God’s work is glorious”. ( Psalm 19:1-6 )

Note: I praise the creation but I pray TO God FOR the creation. I give the glory to the creator not to the creation itself.. Sorry, I digress. This is a segway to my actual point.

My point today is that in the universe around us, if we pay attention, God speaks to us in thousands of ways every moment of every day. Whether we see it in a movie (BTW: After I got past the sophomoric acting in the beginning I was truly moved by the movie FIREPROOF ), literature, or a song. The words of a child or observations in natures patterns can all provide a lesson and a light to the difficult paths we walk everyday.

So pay attention to all of the “little” details. You will be amazed at what moves you.

Today, my inspiration comes from the words of a colleague and co-worker who was recently in a motorcycle accident. Even with brain trauma and personal injury his words inspired me. I was not just struck by the words but by the man who, even in his time of trial, was pondering his actions as they give glory to his creator.

“There is a faulty theology out there that minimizing risk is the only thing that honors me, others and God…There is nothing wrong with being safe. Safety takes work. Dozens of times every minute, you assess risk. To be safe is to effectively analyze and manage that risk…But Careful, Careful is a terrible way to live. Careful is to try to control and eliminate risks. People who try to live careful think they have the ability to manage their own lives. Careful people will be disappointed and eventually surprised. They might even end up blaming God. I don’t mind trying to be safe. But I never want to live a ‘careful’ life.”
