Are we becoming Babylon?

Are we, as a nation, becoming the image of new Babylon as portrayed in the book of Revelation?

As I read Revelation 18:1-24 I see a significant similarity to our culture, arrogance, failures as a society and ultimately the very real consequences. Economic collapse, moral decay, and an eventual erasing of a culture.

It seems as if Revelation 18:3 is describing our prior status as power broker of the world. As I read on I see the consequences of a nation called to greatness when we put a Biblical ethical standard at the forefront of our daily practices. That was a standard of honesty, honor, respect, hard work, fairness, and a bond among men, that camaraderie, where men held each other accountable at work and at home. This is the standard that has been beaten down, trodden under the foot of liberal moral practices (this is not a political comment on liberals, I know a great many morally upright bleeding hearts.. err I mean liberals.)

Revelation 18:11-19 talks about the fall of the great economy. All of the merchants and importers (“shipmasters” owned the ships that transported good in and out of ancient cities).   Now compare that to the abandonment of our ‘friends’ and those who ate at our table which is almost every other country at some point in history (even China, Japan, and France). These are now the people working toward a one world currency. We are no longer the head of our own table. We have been replaced.

The more I read, the more I wonder… Have we turned ourselves into Babylon? But then I think about it.

Do you know why so many other peoples or nations were not talked about in scripture? Does that mean that there was no continental Americas in that time?  Of course there was. They are not discussed because they had no influence on the shaping of Israel, and in turn the Genealogy of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Looking at Revelation. We are not named by name or by reference. We are simply ignored because we, as an individual nation, will not stand out. We are not mentioned because we are no longer an influence in the final battle.

So, we have one of two options.

1) We are not mentioned because we are a part of New Babylon.

We can give up and give in to the culture. Doing this ensures that we WILL become the supporters and citizens of the new kingdom of Babylon. We will not be significant because we will simply be a colony at that point and poised for the same destruction that comes in Revelation 18:19-24.

or, my preference:

2) We are not mentioned because few of us are left after the rapture.

We can go out and spread the Gospel of Christ. Where is our light fellow believers? Why do we not share the Gospel of Jesus with our neighbors and friends? Why not share with strangers too? There will come a time when we will be unable to freely share with others, the love, forgiveness, and salvation found in Jesus. there will come a time when scripture becomes outlawed. We are seeing that trend appear throughout this country.

As follower of Jesus we are not called to FIGHT DARKNESS head on:

We are called to turn on His light, (Philippians 2:14-15) because when the light shines, darkness can not overcome it. (John 1:4-5)

We are called to share the glory of our Lord. It is up to HIM to change hearts and give revelation. (2 Corinthians 4:3-6)

We are called to fight for our children with prayer(1 Samuel 1:27 & , and scripture, and EDUCATION. (1 Peter 3:15)

We are called to fight for our marriages, as that is the first battle ground against the enemy. ( Hebrews 13:4 ; 1 Corinthians 7:39 ; Matthew 19:2-9 ; Malachi 2:14-16)

Men, step-up and be the spiritual leaders of your homes. Women, as co-heirs in Christ you are called to serve as well.

So where is our light? Where is our salt? It is time that we changed the culture, and our country for the better. If we TRULY are the majority and not the minority then let OUR voices be heard and let OUR actions make a TRUE difference. It is time for a revival, and the first step is the mission field inside your home and right outside your front door.

Read your Bibles, pray constantly, and live your life as if the God we serve IS the ALL POWERFUL creator of the universe.

How BIG is your God?

May Jesus have His way with your day
