Learning, growing, and church planting.

Hello all,

I have been lagging in my updates and posts as of late. It seems I can only focus on 4 things at once. Aside from work, family, and work (yes I put that in there twice) the fourth major life focusing event is CHURCH PLANTING…. Yes, I did say that phrase. Church planting is truly an act of obedience to Jesus’s command to go and make disciples in the world. Working with a team to create a new church family has been an amazing experience both in the sense of family that is built and the things you learn.

I have learned many new applications for old skills I have. Thinking back twenty or so years, I remember the experience of running light and sound boards in community theater.I remember dealing with light washout on stage, audio tracks blowing the front row patrons, back a couple of rows with overpowered sub-woofers. All that is coming slowly back as I have worked on the technical production team at Clarity Church, our new church home. I have also gotten to learn new technical skills, I am working with ProPresenter 5, a stage production software package that is used in MANY professional production environments to run video screens, camera image blends and so much more (depending on the feature packs installed). The power of this package rivals or at least mirrors some other serious video production packages used by movie and television studios…Great stuff. Of course, I have been playing the role of technical support troubleshooting maniac as well.

I understand that I have been given these gifts in technical ability to serve in many ways, even when it is not what “I” want to be doing… but the reality is that this experience is also training me up for so much more than a technical role. I have had the pleasure of working with a great lead pastor and his leadership team, whose vision, with our Lord’s guidance, has brought this all together. There is much for me to learn there and I hope to serve until God has another path for us (me and the family).

Today was the first service. Amazing turn-out and even better response from the attenders. I thought I would give a quick status update to let you all know what is going on before it all starts again tomorrow. I will write more about the experience and the preparations going into this launch, but now I am going to take the chance to enjoy one of God’s best gifts….

REST…

Drop me a line and let me know what you have been up to as you strive to be Caleb Strong at home, at work, or in your community.

May the Lord bless you all…

May Jesus have His way with your day
