Can we lose salvation?

Today’s Conversation Starter:

Is believing in a god enough? Is belief in the God of the Bible enough?

No, belief in a god or even the One True God is not sufficient. Even demons believe in the God of the Bible and they are condemned to Hell. (James 2:19) The Devil knew the Heavenly Father personally and is yet condemned because of his sin. (Ezekiel 28:12-19) .

Jesus was very clear when he told us He was the only way to salvation. (John 14:6). He doesn’t ask for anything complicated. He just wants all you are and have. (Mark 8:34)

What is our mark, our token that tells us we are saved?

Romans 8:16 tells us that the Holy Spirit “in-dwells” or merges with our spirit and assures us of our salvation. Romans 8:14 says: “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons (children) of God.”

So, can we lose salvation?

I think we can argue this point either way based on scripture. I believe that the bible tells us that we are a work in progress from the moment we commit our lives to Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6). It also tells us that we can not tell the salvation of others. Therefore, we are told to focus on our own salvation (Philippians 2:12). We will then exhibit the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22) and our works for the Kingdom will be an outward sign of our Spirit filled life.

It is my interpretation of scripture that we do not “Lose Our Salvation” but that our actions are direct proof of our salvation ( or lack thereof ).

As believers we are filled with the Spirit. It is our submission to that Spirit that proves our salvation. Our lack of submission proves we are walking in the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21) and have not truly committed our lives to Christ.(Hebrews 10:26)

In Revelation we are told that those who have not committed and stand on the sidelines of this war will also be rejected in the final counting. (Revelation 3:15) We HAVE to make a choice. We have to stand up when the Spirit calls us. As Joshua called to the nation of Israel, I continue to call to you:

Choose today whom you will serve!  (Joshua 24: 15)

May Jesus have His way with your day
